The Marque restaurant is simply one of our favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. Situated just south of the city, it is not on the main thoroughfares, but its reputation ensures that it is full most nights. The owners, John Rutter, Glyn Stevens and Lara Kearney have built up a large following of devotees, and if you have know their pedigree you can understand why they are such a talented team. The Marque was formed when the three left (or walked out of) the Atrium to form their own restaurant. In the couple of years that they have been going, their restaurant has gone from strength to strength, winning wide acclaim from the critiques and public alike.
We have visited the Marque several times, and have enjoyed the food on each occasion, a trick that is hard to do for so many restaurants. Some of the starters that we have had are Wood Pigeon wrapped in Proscuitto or Seared Scallop Risotto. Equally enjoyable were the mains, consisting of Pan Roast Duck Breast with Shittake Mushrooms and Soba Noodles and Whole Roasted Seabass on a Cous Cous base.
As far as we are concerned, The Marque is one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh. Definitely go there if you are looking for an excellent restaurant, for we know you won't be disappointed!
